Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) Appropriate Body Service 2020-2021
As a Teaching School Hub, we aim to offer a high-quality Appropriate Body service for Newly Qualified Teachers that links into our range of Early Career programmes for primary and secondary teachers.
We believe this offer represents great quality and value, building on the expertise of Torbay Teaching School Alliance’s role as an Appropriate Body for the Torbay area.

The TSSW Appropriate Body service provides:
- Centralised registration of NQTs across the region, with the Teaching Regulation Agency
- Centralised point of contact for all schools and NQTs
- Direct telephone and online support through our central Hub team
- Induction Tutor/Mentor annual update training for those new to the role and a refresher for those who are experienced in the role, delivered across the region
- NQT welcome meetings delivered across the region
- Fully comprehensive monitoring and reporting processes
- Expert advice and knowledge regarding a school’s statutory obligations for NQTs, including formal complaints or challenges
- An Induction Handbook with key information to support the induction process for Induction Tutors/Subject Mentors, Headteachers, Governors and NQTs
- Quality Assurance of, and expert review of, assessment forms against the Teachers’ Standards, on a termly basis
- Monitoring visits and feedback should an NQT or school raise concerns (the first visit is included; for subsequent visits, a daily visit rate will apply)
- A 15% discount on the TSSW NQT Programme for NQTs within TSSW schools (Primary phase) Torbay & Plymouth cohort / Exeter & Okehampton cohort
- An NQT Conference

Fees for for 2020-2021:
TSSW Members £275 per NQT per academic year | Other colleagues £295 per NQT per academic year |
